‘The Boring Truth’ I Think Running After Exciting Fitness ‘Fads & Trends’ Ruins Our Health – MensXP. com

We’re now a little over 15 days into 2023, and I see most people already struggling to stick to their resolutions about fitness. The more I look around, the more I notice people just about ready to give up on yet another fitness routine that they hopped on to prematurely.

It’s a never-ending cycle: every time I turn around, there’s a new workout trend or diet fad that I’m supposed to be following. It’s enough to make my head spin and leave me feeling more frustrated and confused than fit and healthy.

The Fitness World Is Bewildering

First, it was all about high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and constantly pushing yourself to the brink of exhaustion. Now, it’s all about yoga and mindfulness. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good yoga session, but the constant shift in focus from one type of exercise to another is overwhelming and can make it hard to stick to a consistent routine.

Then there are the diets . Oh, the diet programs. I swear, they change as often as the weather. One day, you’re told that carbs are the enemy and you should cut them out completely. Next, you’re supposed to be eating only whole grains and plenty of fruits and vegetables. And don’t even get me started on the latest “detox” or “cleanse” craze. It’s enough to make me want to give up on eating altogether.

The fitness and wellness industry is always trying to come up with new ways to make us feel like we’re not good enough, and that we need to change something about ourselves. It’s always the next big thing that’s going to help us lose weight, gain muscle, and be happier. But the truth is, it’s all just smoke and mirrors.

Real Fitness Is Simply… Boring

It’s hard not to get caught up in the hype plus feel like I’m not doing enough when I’m not participating in the latest trend. But at the end of the day, I realize that the best workout is one that I actually enjoy and will stick to , and the best diet is one that is balanced in addition to sustainable for the long term. In a way, the constant jumping from one health fad to another actually keeps us from staying healthy over extended periods of time.

I know the truth is that most of these diets and even workout plans are just a way for people to make money off our insecurities, and that’s just not something I want to be a part of. I’d rather just stick to what I know works for me and my body and not waste my time and money on the latest fads.

Conclusion

I think at the end of the day, we’re all tired of feeling like we have to constantly change something about ourselves to be healthy and fit. Now, after years of making mistakes, learning, and growing, I realize that I’m healthier together with fitter when I stick to something instead of bouncing from one trend to another.
